About Janey:

Janey is the Clinical Lead and Director of Highland Psychological Services. As an experienced psychotherapist she brings over 30 years of experience in mental health care to her practice. Janey drives the strategic vision of the practice while delivering compassionate, evidence-based therapy to individuals aged 12 and above. She offers both in-person sessions in Inverness and secure online therapy for clients, ensuring accessible mental health support for those in need.

The mission of Highland Psychological Services is to foster mental well-being and resilience within our local communities by offering compassionate, client centred, evidence-based therapy designed to meet the diverse needs of our clients. We envision establishing ourselves as a trusted and integral mental health resource, contributing to a healthier and more resilient Highlands.

Janey specialices in working with individuals facing a wide range of psychological challenges, including but not limited to:

    With over 30 years of experience working in NHS and private mental health services Janey has qualifications in the following:

    • Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy

    • MSc in Autism

    • BSc (Hons) in Psychology

    • MSc in Psychological Research

    • MSc in Adult Nursing

    • Qualified in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) & Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

    • AAMET Level 1 Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Training

    • Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

    • Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS)

Janey’s Approach to Therapy:

Janey is a respectful. Non-judgemental and sensitive practitioner. Her aim is to create a safe, confidential environment where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. Her approach is integrative, collaborative and tailored to each client’s unique needs, often combining:

Janey is fluent in French and offers therapy sessions in French for clients who would feel more comfortable receiving support in their native language.
